Fearless Creativity07.10.09

I’m a big believer that creativity thrives best when you are willing to be fearless. Come to think of it, most things in life turn out better with an element of fearlessness attached.

For that reason I thought it appropriate to have my first post be about some of my fears I’d like to overcome.

Despite being a filmmaker, I don’t feel completely secure with my visual skills. I’ve always wanted to explore, try things, just experiment as a way to feel more connected to my visual sense of style.

I’m also constantly working on embracing my physical appearance…you know loving me just as I am.

So enter self-portraits…

I was very tired after a long day of working at the computer and decided I needed to take a quick nap to rejuvenate.

I’m a huge fan of naps by the way.

When I walked into bedroom, something about the small area of light surrounded by darkness felt a lot like how I was feeling about my CHICK project I’m working on right now. Swimming in darkness, looking for a small window of light to help me make it through this rough patch of feeling overwhelmed.

It’s funny how accepting where you’re at can help you get through it a whole lot quicker. Somehow these pictures give me comfort.

How do they make you feel?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your heart in this blog! I’ve felt so complacent in my gifts and purpose for a while now. I had it, once, well at least I thought I did. Now, I’m just taking each day at a time in this horrible, scary feeling called mediocrity.

I love the visual you’ve giving me through your term “fearless creativity.” It is so refreshing and challenging and comforting all at the same time. Thank you, Kai! ! !

I want to dream fearlessly and push myself more- mind, body, and spirit to reach as far as my body and my God can take me. You’re blog was so timely for me, and I appreciate it.

Also, I’m Nigerian as well and my father lives in England. Yay, nijah! lol

God bless you, and I pray your vision and purpose are accomplished beyond your wildest dreams.

    Peace,
    Bibi
